WIP Wednesday 01/14/2015

Wow! Are we really 2 weeks into this new year already?!  Time really does fly.

If you noticed I have been blogging more frequently, it is because my wonderful hubby gave me a new laptop for Christmas.  (We returned the one with the broken mouse pad and replaced it with a different laptop.)  He spoils me.

Last week, I only managed about 20 x-stitches on my Santa and the Mouse Ornament, the freebie chart from Heaven and Earth Designs.  I could not see the progress, so I could not bring myself to share a picture.

Last night, I spent a couple of hours adding a few more stitches.  The dangling threads indicate this is a "confetti" section, using several colors for shading.  Working on such a tiny scale, I found it difficult to spot any blank squares.  So, I tend to finish the section I am working on and then leave the thread in the next area it will be used (if it is close by.)  I suppose the advantage is that seeing all of these loose threads bugs me just enough to motivate me to to finish that section up as soon as possible.

For comparison, here is what this section looked like on December 31st. It is hard to tell that I added over 100 x-stitches, isn't it?!  However, the fluffy ball at the end of Santa's hat is almost done now!

Now I am off to check out Day 4 of the Tammy 4 all Seasons Blog Hop over at Sew We Quilt.

And then I will be off to work on my project for the We Support You Blog Hop.  It is only 15 days away and I still have much to do.
Thanks for stopping by!
Renee

Oh, is that what you're supposed to do when changing colours? Lol I just count and skip then go back and fill in with the second colour. Yes occasionally I miscount.

Lisa, you are doing it the right way! This project uses 2 strands of floss over 1 thread of the 28-count fabric. (So, there are 28 squares per inch.) I cannot see the spaces left between the stitches if I stitch the normal way, and this is my way around that. (I was soooo confused when I saw threads like this on a couple of other blogs using charts by Heaven and Earth Designs. I snagged the idea from them when I ran into trouble.)

Congratulations on getting a new computer!
I am so glad you shared the way you organise your cross stitch. From now on I know how to keep the threads-in-waiting waiting for their turn.
