Fractal White Tiger January 2021 Update

The third full weekend of every month is IHSW - International Hermit & Stitch Weekend. The idea is to spend as much time stitching during the weekend as possible. There is an IHSW Facebook Group for members to share their progress.

I added over 900 stitches to pages 16 and 17 of Fractal White Tiger by Charting Creations. Some of the whiskers are beginning to appear.

This piece was started as part of the Stitchy Start Blog in January of 2016. My goal is to complete pages 16 and 17 this year.

Thank you for visiting!

Fractal White Tiger August 2020 Update

Last weekend was International Hermit & Stitch Weekend (IHSW). It is held the 3rd full weekend of each month and I try to work on Fractal White Tiger by Charting Creations for IHSW.

I added 639 stitches during IHSW and another 800 stitches this weekend. 41,662 of 174,300 stitches are now complete.

As pages 16 & 17 fill in, more of the tiger's whiskers and nose will be revealed.

The photo below shows how it looked at the end of May.

Pattern Keeper has made stitching this piece so much easier. It is currently 23.9% complete. The photo below shows about how much progress has been made and how far I have to go.

I hope you have been able to spend some time doing something relaxing this weekend, too!

Thank you for visiting.

Fractal White Tiger May 2020 Update

This month, I was thrilled to complete another page on the Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger cross-stitch I am working on for my eldest son. We can now see the tip of the tiger's nose!

Due to the way this piece sits on my frame, I am working down the chart. Pages 1, 2, 6, 7, 11, and 12 are now complete. Pages 16 and 17 are next and they will reveal whiskers and more of the nose.

The piece is now 23.08% complete. 1,070 stitches were added in May. Although I began this project on January 1, 2016 for the Stitchy Start blog, there have been only 130 days of actual stitching progress.

This is how it looked at the end of April. It was really hard to put him away, but Twilight Duel needed some attention, too.

Happy Stitching!

Twilight Duel - SAL Update 4

Wow! 3 weeks went by quickly! I am afraid I still have no progress to share on the Heaven and Earth Designs Twilight Duel chart I am stitching for my youngest son.

To be honest, I am down to 3 needles and I forgot just how fast I go through them on this piece. 2 strands of floss over 25-count fabric makes it pretty tight to get through sometimes and the eyes of the needles tend to snap. I am happy to say the needles I wanted to order are finally in stock again, so I plan to resume this piece soon.

Over the past 3 weeks, I did manage to put 839 stitches into the Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger chart I am stitching for my oldest son. Although I am working this one with 2 strands over 28-count fabric, I am using the continental tent-stitch and it is soooo much easier to get a needle through. But I do love the coverage the full cross-stitch gives to Twilight Duel.

On our May 31st update, I will definitely have progress to share on Twilight Duel.

Confession... My boys remembered how much I enjoyed playing Animal Crossing with them on their GameCube when they were younger. So, my eldest bought the game for his Nintendo Switch and said it was just for me. So, for the past 2 weeks, I confess my little bit of "me time" after work has been playing or watching my boys play instead of stitching.

It is Mother's Day here today. I do hope all of you moms have an amazing day! (Even if it is Covid-19 style...)

Happy Stitching and Healthy Wishes!
Renee

Please do stop by to see the progress everyone else has made. I am happy to announce Helen has rejoined us. Welcome back, Helen! I look forward to seeing more of your Garden Alphabet.

March 2020

Hello March!

February Goals in Review and March Goals:

My March Goals:

  1. Complete the race I signed up for in March.
  2. Add 300 stitches to Fractal White Tiger cross-stitch and share progress on Stitchy Start Blog.
  3. Make progress on Twilight Duel cross-stitch to share in my March 8th and March 29th SAL updates.
  4. Make progress on Winter/Christmas Wall Quilt to share with the 1 X-mas Item a Month Blog.
  5. Make progress on my UFO list. #7 was selected for March - quilting my Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month Quilt, but I need to swap that with #5 - finishing the last block.

February in review:
1. February: Train to run in March.  I am a bit frustrated with a knee issue that I hope is only shoe related.

2. February: Add 300 stitches to Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger and share progress on the Stitchy Start Blog.

Done! 723 stitches were added and the update is here

3. February: Add at least 30 stitches/day to HAED Storykeep Effects of Caffeine for 100 Days of HAED Challenge and share progress with the 3 week SAL.

Done! This piece was finished, as seen here.

1,756 stitches were added in February.
450 stitches counted toward the 100 Days of HAED Challenge.
1,306 additional stitches were added and 1,215 of those counted toward the Road Trip Around the USA Challenge - reaching  Campobello Island in the challenge.

4. February: Make progress on HAED Twilight Duel.

On February 16th, I switched to Twilight Duel for the 100 Days of HAED Challenge after finishing the Storykeep Effects of Caffeine.

On February 28th, I spent time with a visitor rather than stitching. I only made it through 58 of the 100 Days for this challenge, but I am thrilled with my progress.

829 stitches were added to Twilight Duel in February.
360 stitches counted toward the 100 Days of HAED Challenge.
469 stitches counted toward the Road Trip Around the USA Challenge - reaching Old Port, Maine in the challenge.

5. February: Make progress on #2 and #9 on my American Patchwork Quilting (APQ) UFO Challenge.

#2 - Crazy Quilted Valentine Fabric Postcard - added a stem-stitched heart.

#9 - Winter/Christmas Wall Quilt - added a few more snowflakes.

6. February: Finish Snowman Ornament and make progress on Winter/Christmas Crazy Quilt to share on the 1 X-mas Item a Month blog.

Done! I finished this ornament yesterday and shared it here. I also added a few more snowflakes to the Winter/Christmas Crazy Quilt, as seen above.

7. InCoWriMo - Write a letter, card or postcard every day in February.

I knew InCoWriMo would be a stretch with everything else I hoped to accomplish this month. I only managed 5 of 29 this year - it was 4 more than I would have sent, though!

Thanks for stopping by!

February 2020

February is here already!
It truly feels like every month goes faster than the last.

January Goals in Review and February Goals:

January: Find a race to run and track my miles with Runkeeper App.

I signed up for a race in March and ran 10.5 miles in January. (A bad cold early in the month prevented more.)

February: Train to run in March.

January: Add 300 stitches to Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger and share progress on the Stitchy Start blog. Done!

371 Stitches added - mostly during International Hermit & Stitch Weekend (IHSW) through the Facebook group. IHSW is the 3rd full weekend of the month.

February goal is the same.

January: Add at least 30 stitches/day to Heaven and Earth Designs (HAED) Storykeep Effects of Caffeine and share updates every 3rd Sunday with the SAL. Done!

4,054 stitches were added in January. 930 counted towards the 100 Days of HAED Challenge to add 30 stitches/day.

The remaining stitches counted as 3,124 miles in the Road Trip Around the USA Challenge. 29,240 miles to go...

February goal is the same. The next SAL update is February 16th.

January: Make progress on HAED Twilight Duel. Done!

2 hours went into Twilight Duel, adding 247 stitches to page 9.

February goal is the same.

January: Finish crazy quilted Valentine fabric postcard - #2 on my American Patchwork & Quilting (APQ) UFO Challenge (seen in the photo at the top of this blog post.) No progress made...

February: Make progress on (or finish?!) #9 on my APQ UFO Challenge List. This is my Winter/Christmas crazy quilt.

January: 1 X-mas Item a Month blog: share progress on my Winter/Christmas Crazy Quilt. No progress made...

Still dreading embroidering snowflakes, I hoped to finish this crazy quilted snowman ornament to share instead.  It is not quite done.

February goal is to finish this ornament and to share progress on my Winter/Christmas Crazy Quilt on the 1 X-mas Item a Month blog.

InCoWriMo - February is INternational COrrespondence WRiting MOnth. The goal is to write one letter a day throughout the month of February. 29 letters, cards and/or postcards in 29 days. I am joining the fun in 2020. Are you participating? If so, please let me know!

Yikes. This list looks a little overwhelming. I will take it one step, letter, and at least 30 stitches a day!

Wishing you all a fabulous February!

Happy Stitching,
Renee

IHSW is International Hermit & Stitch Weekend. This event takes place the 3rd full weekend of the month. The goal is to spend as much time stitching that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as possible. There is an IHSW Facebook Group that may be found here.

Fractal White Tiger June 2018

This is more of a May update than a June update. Although no progress was made on my Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger project in April or in June, I did manage to add 1,603 stitches to it in May.

There are 30 pages charted for this piece. It runs 5 pages across and 6 pages down. Pages 1, 2, 6 and 7 are complete. Now I am working across pages 11 and 12, filling in more of the nose and the face beneath the eye.

As I have not picked up a needle since I last worked on this piece (on May 8th), I am going through stitching withdrawals. It is my hope to have a lot of progress to share next month!

Thank you for visiting!
Renee

I began this piece on January 1, 2016 to participate at stitchystart.blogspot.com. This is 93 days of stitching progress.

Fractal White Tiger March 2018

Page 7 of my Charting Creations "Fractal White Tiger" cross-stitch, based on artwork by Ricky Barnard, was finished this month!

I am in love with this piece. Watching the tiger emerge is so much fun and it is going to be so impressive when it is finished.

I am still a bit concerned that the fabric may have stretched while I was using the Q-snaps, before I received my lap frame. I discussed my concerns about that and of the fabric not being quite straight with my eldest son this weekend, as I am making it for him. He said he does not want me to restart it though. He'll love it even if the framer is unable to get it fully straight when it is finished. This has made me shy of using a frame smaller than the piece I am stitching. And, I have found the fabric I have purchased through my (not-so) local needlework shop seems to hold it's shape better than the precut, packaged fabrics I have purchased at the craft store. (QS Red Hearts seems to have an angle to the fabric too.) Anyway... enough about my worries...

Here is a close up of how it looks now. Next I will be working on pages 11 and 12, which should reveal the top of the pink nose!

Thank you for visiting!

I began this project on January 1, 2016 to participate at stitchystart.blogspot.com.

Charting Creations also has a Small Fractal White Tiger chart based on this piece of art. It is my understanding the pinks in the nose are toned down in the smaller chart.

Fractal White Tiger February 2018

You may recall that I started this Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger in January of 2016 to participate with stitchystart.blogspot.com. If you follow that blog, you have already seen this update.

My goal has been to work on this piece for the last week of each month. That plan has not worked out very well. Life keeps interrupting. So, I only added 210 stitches in February - they filled in a bit along the right side of the eye.

However, I am happy to say I have already added another 448 stitches to it in March, so the progress should be more visible in my next update. (I will be sharing a picture of how it looks now on Instagram later today.)

I do love this piece of art by Ricky Barnard!

Thanks for visiting,
Renee

Fractal White Tiger December 2017

My Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger only had about 1 hour and 20 minutes of attention this month, and I spent a fair chunk of that time frogging stitches. So, I am happy with the 158 stitches added.

The art is by Ricky Barnard.

This is how it looked last month.

I scheduled 7 days to work on it this month, but spent a fair chunk of time helping a relative. (I was happy to be able to do so, too!)

Thank you for visiting!

Fractal White Tiger October 2017

This week I was able to add 972 stitches to my Charting Creations "Fractal White Tiger" piece.

It filled in some of the top of page 7.

22,684 of 174,300 stitches are now complete.

This is how it looked in my last update.

I began this project on January 1, 2016 to participate with the Stitchy Start blog. However, I have only worked on it 74 days for the progress shown above.
