It is always so much fun to see the craftiness shared by other bloggers.
I love Halloween fabrics, especially the ones that glow in the dark!
This year, I used a few scraps of Halloween and fall fabrics to create fabric postcards.
I also love embroidery and crazy quilting. Each postcard was hand embellished. A few of the threads even glow in the dark. You may click on any photo for a larger image.
The eye and spiderweb fabrics glow in the dark. The pumpkin was part of an earring. And the orange spider was created with glow in the dark Kreinik thread.
Here it is in the dark.
"Boo" was added this Timeless Treasures Glow Ghosts fabric.
It still shows up when the lights are out.
Creating embroidered spiders is always fun!
Especially on Timeless Treasures Glow Webs fabric.
These are even creepy when the lights are out.
This Peanuts fabric in my stash was screaming to be included. I embroidered a bit of a Charlie Brown tree in the upper-left corner and added a few leaves with beads.
Fabric postcards are fun, quick and a bit addictive to create!

Do you have a favorite Halloween memory?
My favorite Halloween memories include trips to the pumpkin patch, carving pumpkins with my boys and their grandparents, and the Halloween parties we hosted when the boys were small. Making Mummy Dogs, Spider Cake (filled with green Jell-o), and Graveyard Pudding was always a treat!

My coworkers are into Halloween and I was looking for something small. To make for them. This will be perfect!

ReplyDeleteI think one of my favorite halloween memories was a party when I was very young. I remember my mom being dressed up in her wedding gown as the bride of frankenstein. She always loved halloween and passed away 15 yrs on halloween.

ReplyDeleteVery creative fabric postcards. As a kid I recall going to someone's house and they gave me a decorated Halloween cake. I think they used it for a party and didn't want to eat it for some reason.

ReplyDeleteYour so right about those fabulous glow in the dark fabrics. These post cards were a blast to the past for me. I used to belong to a couple of online fabric postcard swap groups. It was always so fun to see what would arrive in my mail box. I had lost the file for the back with the address, so thanks for sharing that with us! Happy Halloween!!!

My favorite memories of Halloween are very similar to yours and now that my own children have grown I enjoy seeing all the little princesses and super heroes and ghosts and robots trick or treat in my neighborhood. ReplyDeleteYour postcards are delightful! I don’t know if I would be able to actually mail one. My favorite Halloween memories are of walking around our neighborhood when the kids were little. My husband would dress up to go with them.

ReplyDeleteI love fabric postcards but yours are truly 'over-the-top'. You used the glow fabrics and thread perfectly. Wonderful. My cousin had polio as a small child and we used to pull him in the wagon around town for trick or treating. At first, he would use his crutches or we'd help carry him to the front door but as the night wore on, we all just tuckered out and he called out "Trick or Treat" from his perch in the wagon.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Halloween memory is making Ghost pie when the kids were home. I've made it several times even when they were not. I've never made fabric postcards yet. Sew many ideas, sew little time.
ReplyDeleteFabric postcards are always so tempting, but have never made one. As for Halloween, my favorite memory, my mom and my best friends mom, made matching outfits for us to wear. BUT we didn't know it - we were told not to tell anyone what we were going to be, so I didn't tell her and she didn't tell me. When we each came out of our houses (we lived next door to each other) we were the same except I was blue and she was pink.

I made some last year for my family for Thanksgiving, and I was tickled to see the one I had sent to my niece on her cork board when I visited in Feb this year. Thanks for sharing!
