Piggy Bank Savings Challenge


Last July I decided to join the Piggy Bank Savings = Money for Quilting Challenge hosted by Val at Val's Quilting Studio.

Between August 1, 2015 and July 6th, 2016 I managed to save $88.48. It is more than I would have saved without the challenge. It would have been more if I had not fallen out of my cash only habit for a few months. 

 My hubby and I decided to split the amount we saved. I think my half is going to be invested in a few kits for the Row by Row Experience 2016. (My husband even volunteered to visit some quilt shops with me - without me asking. That's love there!)

    Wow that is cool. I started a couple of years ago, and didn't do the final tally. But I still throw my change into a 1/2 gallon jar. My jar is about 2/3 full, I wonder how much I have?

    Renee, you are so very welcome! I just love seeing how much everyone has actually saved and what quilty purchases they are treating themselves to. Using your savings for some row by rows would fun! Enjoy!!!

    What fun! My savings might total $12. LOL But better than nothing. I'm leaving it in there for the MQG show in Savannah. Have fun on your row by row shopping. I hope you find some great rows!

    great for you!! I used to save LOTS of change before I retired. But I still save quarters. Old habits die hard, lol. I usually spend them at our annual trip to the flea market.

    It is fun to tally up the savings and then decide how to use it. It is almost like having some free money.

    Isn't it amazing how the spare change does add up!

    I've bought a couple of the Row by Row kits this year and I'm looking forward to making them. Last year, I only collected patterns from a few places and I've yet to make one of them. So this year I thought if I bought the kits of blocks I really liked then I might actually get some of them done. Here's hoping anyway. :)

    I remember hearing about this challenge last year but decided I wouldn't take part. We rarely use cash for anything anymore so the change we get is a mere pittance. I suspect I'd be lucky to save even five dollars over an entire year. It's a really fun challenge though!
