Have a Latte Blog Hop Day 4 - My Day to Present


When Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt announced the Have a Latte Blog Hop, I simply had to sign up! And, I do not know about the rest of you, but I always find myself in awe of Joan's work at Moose Stash Quilting, so finding out she would be our cheerleader was an added bonus.

I fell in love with this gorgeous line of fabrics designed by Dan DiPaolo for Clothworks. I purchased the 6 prints pictured above, but only used 2 for this blog hop. However, I do have plans for the others! 
Have a Latte Grab Bag
I have seen a few Japanese Grab Bags showcased on blogs recently. They intrigued me, as they are unlike any other purse I have used. So, I searched Pinterest and discovered this free pattern from Better Homes and Gardens. It was designed by Bonnie Kozowski. (The handle directions were a little confusing for a novice like me, but in the end I figured it out!)

This matching eye glasses case was created using this Easy Sunglasses Case Pattern at Crazy Little Projects. I found this on Pinterest, too. It was such a quick and easy project! It is also roomy enough for a much larger pair of glasses.

 The quotes on this fabric make me smile. :)

My third project was this tissue-pack cover. I have wanted to make one for a while now, and what better excuse than to make it a matching accessory to a new bag?! When I found a link on Pinterest to the free pattern and realized it was also a Better Homes and Gardens pattern. It felt destined to be. (I do confess, I wish BHG would do away with the pop-ups. Once you get past them, the patterns are great!)

I just love the aroma of fresh brewed coffee. (To be honest, I love the smell more than the flavor.) In my home, we tend to drink Yuban Dark Roast ground coffee.

However, I believe my favorite coffee is roasted by Caravan Coffee in Newberg, Oregon. If you are ever in the area on a Friday morning, you may be lucky enough to visit one of their Public Coffee Cuppings. Their blog's News and Upcoming Events tab will let you know if one is being offered. I found the coffee cupping I attended at Caravan Coffee to be incredibly informative and rather fun. It was my first experience comparing unroasted coffee beans to roasted coffee beans; not to mention intentionally tasting black coffee. It also made me want to try roasting our own coffee beans. Some day...

I know some of you are purists and love your coffee black. I need my flavored creamer. Now that I cannot have any dairy, I am incredibly thankful for So Delicious French Vanilla Coconut Milk Creamer and Silk Vanilla Almond Creamer. In fact, on the rare occasions my hubby and I go out of town, I make sure I take the coffee cup pictured above (a gift from my youngest son) with me. If we go out for breakfast, I pour some of my dairy-free coffee creamer into the cup so I can enjoy a cup of coffee with some fresh fruit and a side of bacon while my hubby enjoys a more traditional breakfast. (Gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free breakfasts out can be tricky, but I try to make it work!) Now, I will have a bag and accessories to match my cup!

    Nice projects. I saw that purse pattern. What a cool handle. I liked this fabric a lot too. I have some other fabrics it goes with so I have a lot of choices for future projects.

    I love the grab bag, sew handy! I only drink my coffee black, sew all of the fancy drinks are out for me, lol!

    What a great grab bag. It would be difficult to lose something from the mouth of that while over your arm.
    I like it very much.
    The specs case and tissue cover are good, especially in matching fabric.

    Your projects are great! As for coffee, I take it only with enough chocolate and sugar to numb the taste...in other words, I drink chocolate with a hint of coffee! lol Beth @ Words & Stitches!

    I take my coffee black except when I travel. Then I have a french vanilla cappuccino for sugar energy buzz. Thanks for sharing the pattern links. I will have to try the grab bag. I have some Asian fabric that is perfect.

    Hi Renee! Love your bag and all your accessories... they look great in this fabric range. I have made several grab bags but I gave them away as gifts, so I can't tell you if I like using them!! I drink cappuccino coffee... I like the froth on the top! I have a machine at home which makes them... I love it! :) xx

    I chose the same two fabrics from the line for my upcoming blog hop project. You made great use of them for your bag and accessories! I've never used that type of bag, but I've always wanted to make one so I'll have to do that some day soon. I don't drink coffee; but I take my tea with cream or milk!

    Really Cool bags..

    I to was a flavored cream user, but I'm very picky about what I like and don't like. A few months ago our grocery store on the base stopped carrying my favorite creamer, and so I tried the methods/recipes on the web for trying to recreate it to no avail, it is just to sweet and you don't add sugar to these recipes. So I've switched to normal non-flavored cream for the time being.. Not as good but gets me by. If it weren't for cream I wouldn't be a coffee drinker tho. :)

    Grab bags have intrigued me but I've never made/used one. Seeing yours might give me the incentive. As for my coffee - black, with a little bit of sugar. We also make our own cappuccino powder and sometimes I will through a spoonful of that into my coffee for an additional treat.

    Splash of milK, or half n half and 3 tsp of sugar.
    K mycup holds 3 regular sized cups. I like the fancier or flavored stuff AFTER my regular morning coffee. I also drink lots of tea.
    Your projects are great and I agree about the pop ups on BHG. You chose my favorite fabrics in the line.

    Your projects are so much fun…love the grab bag..will have to make some for gifts. I like my coffee flavored (cafe mocha or hazelnut) light, no sugar…when I want it really sweet it's frozen caramel macchiato every time!! Thanks for sharing :)

    First of all I love each of your pieces. I have made the eye glass case and mine was like yours big for the glasses I was putting in it. I ended up sewing a seam down the length at about the 1/3 mark. It makes a dandy place to keep my pen right next to my glasses. I have one of those bags, it was a gift from a quilting friend. It came to me holding fabric. I drink my coffee with a little milk. I have been known to drink it black but then I want to talk at 500 miles an hour ;}

    I take my coffee black, black, black. I made several grab bags a few years ago to give to the Women's Shelter. Now the bags I make are a little bigger though - a cross between a tote bag and a purse.

    What a lovely new matching purse and accessories set you made!

    I can't drink coffee anymore but when I did, I drank it with a splash of milk and a level tsp of sugar. Sometimes if we had whipped cream leftover from a dessert the night before I'd top my morning coffee with that but that was a special treat.

    I like the handle structure on the bag -- the bag will open completely for whatever big items you want to stash, but then close fairly tightly for privacy and security (relative, of course). It seems to me that you need to make a larger "glasses" case or something to use as a padded cup case for those breakfasts out. A creamer case would be nice, too!
