TAST 08/19/2014

For as much time as I have spent stitching, it feels I have not had much to share with you recently.  I did, however, manage to work in 2 more TAST stitches this week.  (TAST is Take a Stitch Tuesday - a challenge provided by Sharon B. at pintangle.com.  Feel free to check it out here.)

TAST 11: Whipped Wheel

My favorite use for the whipped wheel so far has been making sea stars (I have been told we no longer call them starfish, as they are not actually fish.) I used 2 strands of variegated DMC floss.
This time, I decided to try making a sea shell too.  (The shell was inspired by the ones Sharon B. shared on her TAST post for the whipped wheel - just click the title for the stitch above to check it out.) I used 2 strands of DMC floss.

TAST 125: Beaded Herringbone

When I saw this stitch on pintangle.com, I immediately knew I wanted to try it out with red, white and blue.  I used a single strand of size 8 perle cotton and seed beads.
I love the way this seam turned out.

    I never got the memo about "sea stars" so i'll carry on calling them star fish! Love the sea shells, that's very clever

      In my mind, they are starfish. I have a dear friend that volunteered at a coastal aquarium for years and she is re-educating me about jellies (not jellyfish) and sea stars. I am trying to remember - lol!

    The whipped wheel is a fun stitch to play with. I love how you used the technique to make sea stars too! What a great idea.

      Thank you! I like to combine to shades of tannish/brown - using one strand of each - to make them with a bit of color. Here, I used a variegated floss instead.
