CQI Under the Sea Round Robin - My Blocks are Home!

They are home! They are home! My beautiful under the sea blocks are home!

Okay... they have been home for a while, but today I finally had time to take them out and really ooh and aah over them.

I feel like I need to apologize to you all because the pictures just fail to compare to the actual embroidery I can now hold in my hands.

In February, I mailed this set of blocks out to begin their amazing journey and they returned in July looking like the photo I shared above.

Sandy B. was the first to receive my blocks and she chose one of the two ocean floor blocks. I absolutely adore all of the texture she created with her brain coral, Shibori ribbon and fun beads and shells. The eel sneaking in at the top is fabulous!

Mary B. received my blocks next. She chose the second ocean floor block and used similar colors to those Sandy used. Mary also added brain coral. As a result, the ocean floor blocks of this wall hanging are going to coordinate so well together! There are tons of treasures hiding in the clusters of shells and sea life in the sand. And check out that jelly!

The blocks traveled on to Sandra next. Now, I have to admit, I felt a little guilty sending this set of blocks out because I had NO IDEA how I would ever manage to embellish the two top blocks. None. So, when I saw Sandra's fabulous tropical island, little seagulls in the sky, dolphin, turtles, jellies and tiny fish I was so incredibly impressed! The addition of waves makes me smile, too.

When the blocks made their way to Kathy S., she chose the second block with the sky and horizon. Again, I was thrilled with the creativity. I love the brilliant sun in the sky. And check out those surfers on those fantastic waves! The seahorses, sea stars, and angelfish are so much fun. And Kathy dyed the lace on the block herself. How fun!

Nicki Lee was the last to receive my blocks and she did another lacy masterpiece. Her hand dyed laces, clusters of beads and shells, and that amazing beaded fish are all just gorgeous! My picture of the beaded fish does not do it justice at all.

I have this block remaining to embellish myself. I hope it lives up to the beautiful standard the ladies in this round robin have set. Their work is gorgeous and all of the blocks coordinate so well. I am over-the-moon happy! Thank you Sandy, Mary, Sandra, Kathy & Nicki Lee!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing my excitement!
Renee

This is something we all want to find in our mailbox, you're a very lucky lady! I'm sure it will be a gorgeous quilt someday.

I like all the blocks and love how they go from the very heavy sandy bottom up to the lighter sky and water. That's going to look so great together! Now you get to have fun with your block - right in the middle of heavy and light! I like that you made your block into a header, too. That's so cute.

I can see why you would be thrilled with each of the blocks... they are simply amazing! Each lady did a fabulous job embellishing the block they chose from the ones you sent.

I've been working away on my small block but am also planning a much larger underwater scene. After seeing your blocks with the sky in them and how Sandra added an island and Kathy added the waves and surfers, I'm going to add sky to my larger scene now too.
