WIP Wednesday 11/12/2014

I set aside a couple of hours on Tuesday night, to work on my Winter/Christmas Wall Quilt; however, that did not quite work out. This week, I spent the majority of my stitching time working on my Santa and the Mouse cross-stitch and on "snowballs" to swap.

On Friday, I finished the first page of the Heaven and Earth Designs free Santa and the Mouse Ornament design.  (It is pictured above. You may click on any image for a larger view. ) On Saturday, I made a bit of progress on page 2. (See #4 on my short-term list of goals below.) Even my husband, who shakes his head and grumbles about how insane this project is - due to the number of stitches and time it will take - agrees it is looking pretty cool.

And, I must confess, I could not wait.  I started another project.  I fought the temptation for DAYS (which felt like FOREVER), and lost the battle.  Sunday evening, I caved and spent a couple of hours working on one of the 3 new Heaven and Earth Designs charts I purchased.  QS Red Hearts is a quick stitch (QS) pattern based on artwork by Ching-Chou Kuik.  Every time I see this piece, I picture it as the center of a crazy quilt, surrounded by blocks embroidered with hearts, vines and flowers.  (My hubby suspects I may be certifiable, as this project is larger than the Santa and the Mouse Ornament.  I fear telling him I suspected I would finish this project within 3 years may have confirmed his suspicions...)

Thank you for stopping by!

Hugs,
Renee

You must be so happy to have finished page one of the Santa & Mouse -and definitely deserved the reward of starting something else.

Your sense of humour expands as your To-do list diminishes. I think most DHs are eye- rollers when it comes to wives and needlework. No idea why, of course.
Santa and mouse is coming on well.
I really like your mermaid and sea scene. Lucky Nicki Lee

I know all about fighting temptations! Today I almost gave in, but finally stood firm. I NEED to finish my almost finished projects first!
Let the projects take as much (or little) time as they need.

Thank you, and yes, I was thrilled to finish page 1. (The other pages are all smaller - lol!)

Thank you, I love the way Santa and the Mouse is turning out. And, I had so much fun making the mermaid for Nicki Lee!

Way to go on standing firm! After caving into my temptation, I have done fairly well. When the urge strikes to work on the new project, I pick up another one that needs to be finished instead. I agree, let the projects take the time they need. Rushing adds stress and removes the soothing enjoyment factor from the process.
