TAST 10/28/2014

This week, I completed one Take A Stitch Tuesday (TAST) stitch. (If you are unfamiliar with TAST, I encourage you to read about it on pintangle.com here, and join the fun!)

TAST #135: Beaded Fern Stitch

I do not know about you, but when I am working on a specific theme, I have a tendency to see some stitches in a whole new way.  For example, when I make snowflakes, I almost always use straight stitches, fly stitches or a combination of both.  Sometimes, I even add French knots.

When I saw the Beaded Fern Stitch on pintangle.com, I was just about to begin working on my Winter/Christmas Wall Quilt.  The stitch struck me as a perfect snowflake stitch.

I just LOVE the way this snowflake sparkles.  Thank you for sharing another fantastic stitch for us, Sharon!

To see the two new stitches introduced this week, and to see what others have done with their TAST stitches, check out this link and the links in the comments.

Thanks for stopping by!
Renee

Definitely a nicer snowflake than the real thing (at least in my opinion anyway). Today was lovely and warm here....tomorrow they're calling for snow. Yuck.

I agree - embroidered snowflakes are much more enjoyable! We generally only get 1-3 days of snow where we live. Some years, it misses our house completely, but it snows less than half a mile away. It's not my favorite thing to drive in, so I am okay with that. I hope your weather is better than anticipated today!

Thank you, Chitra! You had so many wonderful samples of this stitch. I hope you do not mind if I use two of them and link back to your blog when I do. They would make perfect snowflakes!

What a great use for the beaded fern stitch! Like you said, you had snowballs on the brain! I must look at the CQI Yahoo group and learn more about the snowball swap.

Thank you! If you are interested in the snowball fight, go to the main CQI page, click on files and scroll down to the Snowball Fight pdf for more information. Then, go to the CQI Swap group. There is a database where you can fill out your preferences. Then, you can read through the other entries and see if there are any themes you are interested in and email the person(s) you would like to swap with to see if they would like to swap too. OR, you can send a message out to the whole group from the main CQI page and just ask if anyone wants to swap. Once someone agrees, you set up a date and exchange addresses through private emails. It really is fun and they are small, so they stitch up pretty quick. Have fun!
